Broken Cinema Dreams, 2025

Broken Cinema Dreams explores the tension between cinematic memory and photography as a medium. Combining abstraction with figurative imagery, the series began with experiments in photographing cellophane under colored light. Inspired by a deep love for cinema, I projected and re-photographed frames from early films onto a curved surface, distorting their proportions before digitally layering them with the abstract compositions. Through this process, the series deconstructs and reassembles cinematic history, dissolving recognizable film scenes into layers of color, light, and form. Photography, cinema, and collage merge, reshaping fragmented visual memories into a newly imagined space.

Color Afterimages, 2025

Color Afterimages explores the interaction of color, light, and transparency through digital photography. Inspired by artist Liz Nielsen’s darkroom techniques, I photographed cut-out colored paper under varied lighting on a reflective surface, then digitally layered the images to simulate additive color mixing. Rather than blending pigments, the compositions rely on overlapping light to generate new hues, echoing RGB color theory. This process transforms flat materials into dynamic arrangements where color seems to radiate and shift, questioning how physical elements can be digitally reinterpreted and how perception is shaped by layering, transparency, and contrast.

Spectral Reflections, 2025

Spectral Reflections explores color, transparency, and perception through photographs of cellophane under colored lighting, digitally manipulated through layering, mirroring, and inversion. While initially abstract, the images reveal subtle figurative suggestions, highlighting the mind’s tendency to find meaning in form. The interplay of transparency and reflection creates an illusion of depth, where color and shape seem to float in an undefined space. Shifting between abstraction and recognition, the series invites viewers to explore how light and material interact to generate unexpected visual experiences.

Charcoal Diaries, 2025

This series emerged from my exploration of figurative artists who work mainly with charcoal. I was drawn to how immediate and expressive the medium is and how it lets you capture something raw and real without overthinking it. The subjects I chose to draw are diverse, reflecting various moods, expressions, and identities, all unified by the same medium.

Growing up, I loved drawing caricatures, always fascinated by faces and the challenge of capturing their essence. Charcoal Diaries is a blend of the figurative techniques I’ve learned with charcoal and my ongoing desire to draw compelling, vivid portraits. Faces have always been what I’m most drawn to as an artist, trying to capture something true and expressive about each one.
