Charcoal Diaries

This series emerged from my exploration of figurative artists who work mainly with charcoal. I was drawn to how immediate and expressive the medium is and how it lets you capture something raw and real without overthinking it. The subjects I chose to draw are diverse, reflecting various moods, expressions, and identities, all unified by the same medium.

Growing up, I loved drawing caricatures, always fascinated by faces and the challenge of capturing their essence. Charcoal Diaries is a blend of the figurative techniques I’ve learned with charcoal and my ongoing desire to draw compelling, vivid portraits. Faces have always been what I’m most drawn to as an artist, trying to capture something true and expressive about each one.
